Blog Summary

The creation of this blog aimed to portray the reality of the suburbs, making us realize how important it is to be aware of the problems of others. Today, when thinking about the periphery comes to mind poverty, sadness, violence and the like, but we know there are people of character and decent people who fight all the problems that are bound to face.
It is very common to hear about violence and drugs in our daily lives, we tend to generalize about it and we excluded people who live in the suburbs, it generates a lot of anger on their part and often causes young people to get involved in wrong things to get money and have a reasonable standard of living. Lack of opportunities is also a crucial factor in this, missing many investments by the government to try to alleviate this situation.
The search for spirituality in these places is very large because it is a refuge to face these terrible problems. That is the reason why people cling both the churches and religions. Believing in them is a solution to their problems. What can not be considered in vain, because everyone has their spiritual need.
Music, dance, theater, culture are also part of the periphery. These art forms most often serve as encouragement for children and young people and helps them to deviate from the world of crime and drugs. Leaving their minds and causing extensive struggle to achieve their goals.
What is really needed is action by government, which has always ignored the problems faced by low-class people and never took action to change that. Also missing is the awareness and concern of people who have financial power. Only then can we alleviate this social inequality in our country.

Banda O Terreiro

Assistam!

BRINGS OUT WITH A LOOK OUT - Peripheral vision

It is very difficult to imagine a completely different life, a fact quite far from our reality, students of a private school, members of social class balanced and residents of neighborhood. Many of us did not pay attention to your needs and the struggle of its inhabitants and, much worse, we are not "played" their existence.
Remember that the periphery is much more marked by precariousness and lack of assistance and resources than by location.
In the periphery and in the suburbs, finally, in all parts of Salvador financially underprivileged, forgotten by the rulers, who go to the periphery of the election season only looking for votes, deceive these people and then do nothing.
Sometimes we think and ask ourselves: What role has the edge in our lives? What it influences in our society? The culture of the periphery, it has also been improves, the people who live there are succeeding in life and thus showing to society that the periphery is not only a thief, drug dealer, marginal, but honest people who struggle every days to achieve a better life for their families, other people who live there is by choice, they have a better life, but how he spent his childhood there, do not want to leave.
There is still much prejudice on the part of the population of a little higher social class. These people have a biased look, a preconceived notion that every resident of the periphery or any person of lower social class is a thief. People do not mind helping others to see it better for them, what matters is only the "I".
There are people who are social actions in the periphery, others are voluntary and these people seek to improve the lives of those living in the suburbs, through music, art, among others. Thus making them better and better and helping them not to join in violence.
Any exclusion from society and the marginalization of people living in the periphery generate the statement: "Nobody is marginal." Society "is that makes the marginal worth, denying that come to life, education, housing, food and work."
The work on the periphery was very valuable, we learn, in a sense, the various "faces" of our city, other cultures and how important we look at the world we live in, because many people are worse off than our and, of course, showed us what is "behind the scenes" because it is very easy to talk about the situation, but we do not really know how to live in these places, be looked at in a different way and, of course not everyone lives in the room "Suburbs", but nobody knows how to be seen with different eyes throughout society, the eyes of prejudice and exclusion, after all, as the title of the blog says, "A look from the outside."
This work, we will take a lifetime, just with different "bars" of prejudice and found also that there is much to learn still, the city of Salvador, that shall not be counted in the history books, the quotes from people the surveys, interviews with residents, all of these examples revealed to us that in fact, hope is the "last to die" and that no battle, no victory.

Peryphery (Resume)

Was proposed to us  a work that involves issues related to the periphery, whose goal is to create a blog so we could post all the material made about the themes, being one by week.
In our current society, we can observe that there is clearly a social class "deleted", in other words, on the margins. Members of this group are confronted daily with a backdrop of violence, crime and suffering, and often lack the basics for survival, forcing them to seek something to give them support, faith, hope and motivation to continue living. So often end up choosing one religion attend, keeping away from crime and pursuing a better way.
We realize that there are ethical and aesthetic standards in bourgeois society in which these marginalized people end up not fitting in, which creates an exclusion of both parties, and certain prejudice, discrimination. The suburbs have their own standards of behavior, dress and even musicality.
We know that these individuals rarely have good access to education, which hinders their professional growth. And maybe the key to solving this impasse of social inequality, discrimination and poverty, the concern is with the actual education and moral formation of all, putting it in the foreground and the awareness that we are all one. Why this way, would look more to the next, we would take a more responsible and concern ourselves with our future.

We students of the Fundação Bahiana de Engenharia, with the help of the teachers Fabio Pablo, Ronald and Aila Calmon, have built a work in which we have created a blog and made texts discussing peripheral issues which involves problems, solutions, projects, poor housing, environmental waste that generate pollution, marginalized youth, social movements, the predominant religion, expectations for the future and how to walk on the outskirts slums of Salvador.
With this, we students can thus feel what is happening to the peripheries of our city, even giving us the curiosity to visit them and help them as well. We have seen that there are many families who have almost nothing and still live with dignity and union, and yet claim for the improvement of equal education, basic sanitation and a less biased look of those who do not live that reality.
Professor Ronald have created a project and handed over to the students of the Fundação Bahiana de Engenharia where they are working together to build a library in the “Cidade de Plástico”, which is located in the Suburbs. This movement aims to give people a place conducive to the pursuit of knowledge, where they can study and learn how to interact with society which does not give privileges to people who can’t afford. We understand that we need to manifest ourselves with the objective of establish a more fair and efficient society, where everybody can be part of the same social means.
It is apparent that for the intellectual development of young people living mainly in the periphery, the support and solidarity of the politicians are paramount. We realize that they need encouragement not only from politicians but also of the population. There are several ways to encourage lower-class people to improve and grow in life.
The incentive for the sport is essential because it reduces the chance of disease and helps to build a physical and mental formation. It is necessary to build nonprofit sports on the periphery, in order to focus the attention of young people at leisure. These young people have the sport as a lifestyle, where they can open doors to have a better quality of life, and to sustain their families.
